Bow Area Guide

Bow is one of London’s most famous Cockney districts thanks to the Great Bell of Bow of St. Mary-le-Bow church and the fabled Dick Whittington. The original bell was destroyed in a 1941 air raid and was replaced in a massive restoration project 1961 with 12 bells which still ring out today.

Bow is surrounded by acres and acres of green leafy open spaces on one side and a warm and welcoming East London community on the other.

Situated on the banks of the Hertford Union Canal and the sprawling Victoria Park, Bow can boast a beautiful boating lake, playgrounds, a skate and BMX park, several sports fields, courts and activities such as wall climbing, all intertwined with peaceful and traffic free footpaths and cycleways.

One of Tower Hamlet’s most popular residential areas, Bow’s streets aren’t quite paved with gold, although it has been a hub for trade and culture for centuries and has certainly been the place to get freshly imported oranges and lemons as in the popular nursery rhyme.

However, Bow is certainly experiencing a renaissance and rejuvenation of late as more investment in businesses and homes has flooded into the area over recent years.

The main retail centre is based around its popular street market with a host of local independent shops selling everything from fashion accessories, clothing, to food from every corner of the world and household goods fanning out from its centre.

There are also many hair, beauty and nail salons dotted throughout and a vibrant cultural selection of cafés and bars where you can enjoy an incredible range of menus catering for every diet and taste.

The Bow property market is as diverse and inclusive as its residents and properties range from tower block flats and maisonettes, to trendy lofts and waterside apartments.

Wapping Area Guide

Wapping is almost unrecognisable from its pre-redevelopment dock days.

The home of Tobacco and St. Katherine Docks, this River Thames area was one of London’s busiest and most affluent commercial import and export landmarks.

Now totally transformed into an upmarket property hotspot with luxury apartments, shops, offices, and chic trendy bars and restaurants, all set around a marina full of private yachts, canal boats and river cruisers, Wapping is very much an aspirational place to live and work.
